Well, just found out something strange, some images people have posted have looked slightly out of focus to me and not quite sharp.
Posted my castle and couldnt understand why it didnt look the same as the original, then i realised i had internet explorer zoomed to 125% in the status bar, put it back to 100% and everything looks ok.

So if the images look slightly out of focus to you in the forum check your not zoomed in like i was, doh. Just thought i would share in case anyone else has the same problem

Got my T2i/550D today. Refurb kit from CLP.

Now I am just wishing I had a much better lens!

http://img545.imageshack.us/img545/6155/img0041r.jpg (external link) (That motorcyclist was 10ft away and was hammering the throttle... I was surprised how this turned out because I had no time to focus. I just held down the button and hoped it got her)
http://img852.imageshack.us/img852/3639/floweru.jpg (external link) Testing how well macro stuff works.

This lens sucks in low light though. I go to a lot of low light events. Also it isn't any good on streets at night in Seattle U-District, even if they are lit up on the ave. Maxed out the ISO and lowest aperture... Still can't get good photos.

what lens is this? the 18-55 IS kit lens?
those pics look pretty good... you can see the focus point is the rider in the first and pretty good bokeh in the second...

not knowing how long you have been in dslr... could it be the settings? learning curve?
no exif data so cant help ya there...

what setting where you shooting in?

you say bad in low light.. welcome to the club.. im now hurting in this area... my son had a show at his school.. i used my flash and found that the flash made it worse... took the flash off and used their local light.. while not great pics.. i got good useable ones @ iso 1600

I've been fighting with my Tamron SP 70-300 VC lens for a bit now. I've had trouble getting truly sharp images from it but with the help of the folks in the thread for this lens I've gotten some drastic improvement. All of these are at 300mm and have had no post processing done aside from cropping (and resizing for Picasa). I'm very impressed with these results but am still on the fence because others have gotten much better results at slower shutter speeds that I've gotten.

Anyway, here are some birds...

Thanks Killer! I thought this image was a little soft. It was taken while on a floating dock so there was a little movement during the course of the long exposure. I also forgot to take off the UV filter.

I love this lens! Still learning how to use it.

When I bought the lens, I also purchased a Kenko 1.4 teleconverter but have yet to use it.

Took a pic of a local castle and ran it through phototools 2.6, used the landscape enhancer preset, what you think?

Wanted something really wide, so I purchased this Opteka 6.5mm fisheye, it was between this and 12-24 Tokina, price is only $40 difference. Still not sure which one I want but I got two weeks to return it so I will just play around with this one for now.

here is the first picture I took with it, nothing special. Just a shot of my graffiti in my garage.

Seems like the perfect lens for a shot like that. Very nice!

Monarchs....

Found this monarch butterfly out back enjoying the milkweed flowers and then laying some eggs on it.

Beautiful shots you two. Really nice!!

I went out back with my friend and while she was shooting flowers, I was being amused by this little guy. I was amazed at how close he let me get.
