Neat series, but how on earth do you drive and shoot at the same time?

Very carefully. :p

Actually, before I set out I set up the focus and switched the lens to manual. Then shot in Av mode with it set at f/8. Then I just left the camera on and held it in one hand while steering with the other hand. I didn't look through the viewfinder or anything. I just ripped off 3 rapid shots as I passed something interesting and hoped one would turn out.

I edited this a little in CS5 (haven't really figured it out yet) I think it would look a lot better if I could figure out how to black out the background but, at least this is a start. It is the first night with CS5 after all.

Wow this thread moves fast! Makes things easy, in a way, because half of the comments I wanted to make were already made by other people!
For example, Itzmered, I want to second Rafa's suggestion of the Canon 15-85. 15 really is quite wide, and it just seems like it would be a perfect match for your long lens. I had a copy for a while, and it's only weakness is that it isn't good for low-light situations (in the house at night, for example). Otherwise it's a great lens. If you get an external flash you can even solve that problem pretty easily.

Hi Bohh. Welcome. You need to choose the BB code version when sharing from flickr for it to work here.

Thank you for the welcome and the tip! I knew something was wrong.

Bohh nice shots! I love your Too! Glad to see another parrot lover on here

Thanks! Your shots are wonderful too! Your parrot has great color!

Bohh, I don't remember if you have been properly welcomed here, so, in case you haven't, Welcome to the T2i section of POTN!

You have some interesting images. The moon shot is very well achieved for what is a difficult task, apparently you missed the moon 'frenzy' of the weekend! The chimes image has some nice rhythm and texture to it. Did you try one completely reversed? (chimes out of focus and background in focus?) Could be interesting to see the results.

The parrot images are very interesting but I believe the White Balance is a bit off which renders the (apparently) white feathers completely yellow. For such effects, I still prefer to have a properly WB set and then add color in post. Did you try changing the WB to tungsten? I have now made my decision to never use Auto WB again, I set it to the closer available pre-set to what my conditions are.

Welcome again, hope to see more from you.
Rafa.

Thanks for the welcome. I didn't try the chimes reversed. That's a good idea. I need to get in the habit of thinking like a photographer. I will try it next time I have a chance.

White balance is still a mystery to me. You're right it was in Auto WB. However, there was a hanging light with yellow glass around it which was throwing the yellow around. The pictures are fairly accurate to what is seen with the eye. Now I'm curious to go try it though with tungsten WB and see if she appears white!

you did a great job if I may say so Welcome to this awesome forum you will love it here. you are off to a great start with that moon shot

Thanks!

One more I got in this evening:

Yeah, I'm doing my amazon shopping tomorrow. I usually buy a bunch of books every few weeks so I'm just going to fill up my cart and throw one of those in. Do they work on the XXXD models? On the sites I've seen it usually only lists XD and XXD, but I have to assume it works on this camera just fine.

They will, but be sure to get the ones with the rights crods for your T2i. There's two version of them, one with Canon's proprietary jack (as found on 5D/7D/50D and earlier) and one with the mini jack, made for the rebels and the 60D.

That cord is used to plug one end into the receiver and the other in your camera remote port. Than take the transmitter and press the button on top. It'll fire your shutter.
