Pocketwizard PLUS II , Mini TT1, or FLEX TT5???

I decided to upgrade my current Flashwaves setup as it became obsolete with the newer version of the Flashwaves and I cannot buy any more receivers for it.

Im currently looking at the pocketwizards lineup, and its VERY confusing to me.

I know that many people still use the Plus II system, but should I be looking to find the Mini TT1 or Flex series?

The FlexTT5 is a transceiver, so it works just like the Plus II's as it can be both used on the camera hotshoe or the Flash as a receiver. So then what is the need for the Mini TT1?

Any experiences regarding the lineup of pocketwizards would be greatly appreciated.

The Mini TT1 is a lot smaller, so the overall form of the camera is hardly changed. The disadvantage is that, since it isn't a receiver, it doesn't have any outputs including remote shutter capability.

For a traditional OCF application, I don't see any reason not to use a TT1 in the hotshoe.

PW's auto-TTL Mini/Flex does some pretty cool things, great system, but the Pluses are just triggers.

I sold mine and got a few Yongnuo RF-602 triggers for a fraction of the cost, which I think are actually better.

First question is; what do you use the triggers with? And second, if speedlites, do you want TTL capabilities.

If monolights then which manufacturer? If Elinchrom, Profoto or PCB, they each have proprietary triggers that offer benefits.

If you want TTL with speedlites ControlTL is the Pocketwizard solution.

If manual speedlites then the options open up. Cactus V5, Yongnuo RF-603 (replacement for 602) along with some others.

I use the Mini as my transmitter and Plus IIs as my receivers. With this set up you can sync over 320.

For 1.6x crop and 1.3x crop yes, not for FF.
