Im contemplating selling my canon 15-85mm IS and my sigma 30mm f1.4, and pick up a canon 24mm L f1.4... as i love the sigma but feel i need a prime thats just a bit wider, and i seem to only either use my 10-22, 30mm or 70-200 these days!

What do you guys think?

You could keep your zoom, save some cash, and consider the Sigma 20mm f/1.8. It gets great reviews on Amazon and B&H. The only drawback (for me) is that it does not have HSM, but that may not be an issue for you since two of your Canon lenses don't have USM.

So the 30 is one of the only lenses you use... why sell it then? Sell the Nifty instead. Sure you'll have $250 fewer dollars, but you'll still have a lens you like. And really, $250 doesn't go that far toward the 24L.

EDIT: OK, if you think you'd be using the 24 INSTEAD OF the 30, that makes more sense upon re-reading it.

Image editing and C&C always OK

There is no good reason to keep gear if you don't think you'll use it. If you think the 24 would completely replace the 15-85 and 30 for you, then by all means go for it.

The only question I have for you is: Are there ever situations where the 15-85 is a convenient walk-around lens for you? If it is, then it does not make sense to get rid of it. Since you said you wish for wider than the 30, then it definitely makes sense to let the 30 go.

It may be that I only own the one lens at f1.4, but that's besides the point if you'd read my posting properly, at the moment its the only lwns that I seem to be using the 30 more than any lens

I own both 24 mm Sigma and canon

https://photography-on-the.net …ht=sigma+24F1.8+real+life

...

24mm is not really wide, but I think you will still need a 85F1.8 too on a crop

This would be like a personnal ranking

1 -> 24L1.4II + 85L1.2II
2 -> 24L1.4II + Sig 85F1.4
3 -> Sig 24F1.8 + Sig 85F1.4
4 -> Sig 24F1.8 + 85F1.8

..... I don't think on a crop and as a walkaround pack IMHO will be as different as prices are :lol: ! 85L is surely not better on a crop than a sig 85F1.4. On a FullFrame 85L1.2II is surely sharper and more impressive.

If you like to sleep well and keep a package for decades 24L + 85L is surely the best ;)
