I would recommend that you sharpen the aircraft only. You can do this easily by using a magic wand tool to select the sky only, apply some noise reduction, and then invert the selection to select only the airplane. Sharpen as necessary. That way you'll have a nice sharp airplane and a smooth background. Denton

These grey skin airplanes are hard to sharpen without making super noisy. Try to selectively mask the details and use a heavier noise reduction on the open areas.

I still have to put up Blue Angels stuff and the heritage flight/static ones. tsong wrote in post #12014453 Man, I like the detail of the planes... a telephoto is next on my list... Yeah, I agree. I rented a 100-400L for it, and 400mm wasn't enough for most of the shots. These are all fairly cropped.
