Hi there I process my raw images through a combination of CS5 and Lightroom.
All looks great on the computer until I hit print, then instead of recieving my nice shiny, contrasty B+W prints they always seem to print with a Sepia type finish to them:mad:
The printer is a Canon MP620, i have been into the options menu in the printer and tried to adjust everything to print pure b+W (turning off effects, grayscale, etc but still no change. Printing on Glossy paper also guys.
Am I missing something or is the printer just not up to pure B+W printing:cry:
Thanks for any help.

This is a problem with various printers. You can check through you various driver settings and see if it has a B&W only option and try that. Your results may not be the greatest, but better than the Sepia (you could try tweaking things in your software of course, but...).

Or for B&W prints you may be best with an outside lab/shop.

If you want really neutral B&W, you need a printer which has multiple gray inks. If your printer only has one black ink, the image has to be in RGB mode so the printer can blend color inks and produce a convincing B&W print. My old HP has light gray, medium gray, and photo black. The Epson 2880 is a current printer which excels at B&W.

Also, some printers do better with B&W when you allow the printer drivers to handle color management. I would do the B&W conversion in Photoshop, but keep the image in RGB mode, sRGB colorspace. Send it to the printer allowing the printer to handle color management and set the printer drivers for grayscale photos.

Use only OEM inks and common Canon paper.
