American Dippers

Spring may be coming. The dippers were in a local reiver and were feeding on salmon fry. Not the best photos but they are a neat bird. Sitka, Alaska.

nice shots, very nice detail though it is a bit small, in any event great capture, don't see very many of those posted. Well done, lets see some more!

Thanks for the comments. They do not quite fill the viewfinder. I have a 1.4x and also a crop body. I plan to go back another weekend with them when there is more light.

I almost did not post mine after I did a search on dippers here and found these. They are amazingly beautiful.

I had cabin fever and found myself up river looking for any sign of spring I could find. These little guys were in the river section that got some sun. They were just pounding the alevin. These are just hatched salmon fry with their yoke sac still attached. Spring!

I will be ready for them next time. These guys are divers, swim with their wings and 'run' along the bottom. Hard to capture. Fun though.
