It's hard to comment on the poster itself -- considering the circumstances I'd say it's good, get it out there. Then, you can always go back to the original photo and do more touching up -- maybe you could post the original here, show us what you did to get the image you have, and somebody can chime in with suggestions.

By the way, POTN member Connor Surdi has, with a couple others, created a Facebook space dedicated to the Japan situation, and selling some stuff to send relief funds over, if you're interested:
