... just arrived! I haven`t had much time to play with it at all though. My gf was kind enough to strike a pose (lol... hardly :P) just as a test shot to see how much softer the light was. Seems like it will come in handy for sure. Just wondering if anyone else has something similar to this and if so, would you please mind posting some example shots? Thanks in advance ;)

Here is an image of the dish itself mounted on my 580EX II and a test shot.

Where did you get this? I am thinking of making myself one, but am having trouble sourcing the bracket to connect to the flash. At this point, I would rather buy one if it isn't too expensive.

I got a 6 inch BD from Adorama and it works flawlessly. Here's a sample image using it.

I have 3 different versions of the 6" Speedlite beauty dishes. The Adorama Flashpoint is the best right out of the box with a very nice even light pattern. The Interfit Strobie, which looks very similar to the OP's, was by far the worst. Very definite doughnut pattern to the lighting with a brighter ring around a darker center. My 3rd dish is by Calumet and looks very similar to the Adorama Flashpoint but it is cheaper built and also has the same doughnut pattern to the lighting although not as bad as the Strobie. I was able to modify the Calumet version by cutting the bottom out of a clear storage container and siliconing it into the dish with a convex mirror double stick taped to the bottom of the container. It now throws just as even of a light pattern as the Flashpoint dish. I have not tried to modify the Strobie because its design and construction would constitute too much time and effort on my part. IMO the Adorama Flashpoints are hands down better than the Calumet or the Strobies both in quality of build, light pattern eveness right out of the box and in the way they attach to the flash.

How many stops of light you loose with these hotshoe beauty dishes? Does anyone have to throw in some comp?

+1, that's the one I have and use during up-close candid portraiture.

Beauty dishes are most often quite a bit larger than the ones used with hotshoe flashes.
