Hi All

Relatively new here. Been doing 'daddy' videos for years and increasingly want to improve to a higher level.

Lately I have even picked up some paid work.

Here is my site:

I'd love to hear your feedback, comments, ctisisims and any other tips and advice people are willing to share.

Regards

Jeff

With kind regards

As it is right now, your site just doesn't say "professional" to me. It needs some 'spice'. I do think your logo is a bit too big. Regardless of what size the logo is, it should display on all of your galleries. You might want to change your title tag from 'jeffmurray's Photos | SmugMug' to something that includes your location and what you do. Read my SEO for the Photographer link in my sig. ;)

Thanks very much - very helpful feedback. I have made these revisions and this has led me to discover there is a whole lot more I can do in the customiser.

I shall explore this further.

It's a good start. One thing I'd be a bit more picky about is the selection of photos for your front page. You definitely have some nice ones in there, but you have a few that are a little less flattering. As someone with knowledge of XC, I would definitely not have the photo of the chutes in there, because it's not really flattering. I'd aim to have the front page "gallery" be more brief and show your absolute best work.

It's somewhat like the introduction to an essay. You want to catch the reader and draw them in. In the case of a photography website, the easiest way to do that is to put superb photos up front.

Thanks for the feedback. It's alway helpful to have a different perspective.

Visually I agree on the chute photo. But for me from a story telling perspective - I always thought it was my best shot. But then again no one has really felt the way I do about it..

I'll add a different gallery there and appreciate the help.

The chutes definitely have a lot of emotion, but I don't know if this photo really captures that emotion. It's a little too distant, if you catch my drift. I definitely agree with the idea and I think you're rather close.
