What's the cheapest FF deal around right now? A used 5d? An older 1d? I really wouldnt want to spend more than 1k.

Cheapest alternative with great results is the 5D Classic.

Remember that the 1D is a 1.3X crop camera. Only 1Ds models are full frame.

The 5DC would be the cheapest possible way to get in to full frame, but even then you'll be on the limits of your budget.

You could always go full frame by picking up an EOS film body on eBay for like 20 bucks.

ABR800 - Several flashes, remote triggers, stands, too many and yet not enough lenses

In England, the cheapest way to get full-frame is with a 1Ds classic. They are cheaper (here, anyway) than a 5d classic.

I really wanted a 5d classic but couldn't afford it. So bought a 1ds classic - now I'm glad I couldn't afford a 5d classic. The 1ds is 'cheap' and amazing at the price.

1ds...50mm f1.8...85mm f1.8...135mm f2 plus several flashes and bits of kit!

Yeah and if not paid off in full you get all that 6 months accrued interest tack on.

It's cheaper in the US by 20% or so, too.

Film is cheaper until you hit about 4000 shots. Then you've paid for a used 5D in film and processing costs. If it was for personal use and you only used it for important portrait sessions, then maybe you would come out ahead on film. For any heavy uses, no way it is cheaper.

35mm film canister+Cheap AE-1 Program+Developing and scannin=60bucks.

Otherwise go for the 5dc. It is golden.

I came in here to say this. :D

Seriously though, a 1Ds classic is the cheapest digital FF canon at the moment.
