I started my DSLR journey with Pentax K-x. At that time, I had always wanted to shot e Milky Way. And so I got a chance to embark on an island (R.Redang) to do my 1st Milky Way shot. I was happy w the results becoz i honestly was doubting what a kit lens and budget body can do.

20shots and 10 dark frames of 15secs @1600 18mm f3.5

Nice shot, good color range. Be careful in your processing not to clip your black point(histogram). You'll loose a lot of nice subtle details in the flood of black and the transition between your darkest regions and grays/neutrals will look less gradual.

I see I see. I was thinking the photo was a bit washed out.

An absolutely fabulous shot. It's such a pity that this remains hidden for so many of us. I've only once seen the sky like this, when I was in the Andes, and it took my breath away (or maybe that was just the altitude!)

Great pic !

see these threads how I was introduced to stacking images and the post processing,
https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=913657

and even post processing without stacking multiple pics
