I went out and shot a HS cycling event last Friday. It was my first time shooting anything like this so C&C would be appreciated.

I like 'em. Cyclists are such equipment heads that they like to see the bikes too. Just a thought. Good stuff though. ;)

Yeah apparently they do. I had no idea until I went to shoot the event for my local paper. I spoke to one of the coaches and it is a club sport up here in Nor Cal.

Thanks. As I processed the shots they all began to look a like so I tried to change up how I cropped them.

Try shooting 50 races a year and see how you feel. :D It takes some creativity to keep 'em looking fresh week to week.

Theses look good Chris, shooting flash for cycling can be pretty tough. I'm going to do some of these events this year when they get a bit closer to home.

Is probably High School. I can't see to be high speed since they are riding mountain bikes. The riders do not look toned enough...:)

The "catch light" headlamp in #6 is great. This seems like a pretty good yield in a challenging environment – although they do move faster in road races. Good work!

Some money in those bike for high school kids. I could only ever afford my top line bike when I was working full time which meant there was never enough time to be riding.

Great shots, although mounting and dismounting bikes are not the best subjects.

Sometimes. Depends how flamboyant they get (such as cyclocross).

The flash in some of those are way too harsh. With that lighting, it's hard to nail exposure perfectly in the field. Do you shoot RAW? If not, try it. When you post process, you can easily adjust exposure by at least one stop in either direction (and two stops with a little more work) using RAW.
