Hi folks,

Just wondered if anyone knows of any good prices for the Canon S95 right now, in the UK? I know I can google, and I will, but there are always one or two that you just don't find?

If anyone knows of any, from reputable dealers they have used, I would very much appreciate your input.

Kind regards

Ian

Well I'm in the UK and was looking for ages and the they never really dropped below £289.00 but I just got mine at Focus on Imaging show for £279.00.

Try looking on here as they scan most of the good shops for price differences CameraPriceBuster (external link)
I'm really pleased with the S95 and just used it on holiday the last week, one minute I'm shooting pics on RAW the next I'm filming my little lad playing on the beach and the quality is really good, made me think how much kit you would have needed a few years back to film in 1280HD and take a RAW image, its not a 5D2 with L glass quality but it is only 10% the price and slips in your pocket, it really is a brilliant little camera.

Best buy yourself a spare battery as they are only small and well worth having, got mine from 7DAYSHOP (external link) for £3.99 and a camlink case for £1.99 (was £10.99) and a spot on fit, also bought 3 8GB Transend SDHC cards for about £7.80ish each and there quoted as class 10 and mine have so far worked fine for filming.
Also bought a 3 inch GGS glass screen protector from the FOI show and that fits really well and does not cover up any of the visible LCD.

Hope all this helps as it is a pricey compact but just to put your mind at rest you do get what you pay for.

Below images taken in RAW on S95 played a little in LR3.
I took these while on holiday in Lanzarote, the wreck is quite famous and near a power station, we were going past on the bus and I jumped off at the next stop whipped out the S95, job done!!

The camera is just a storage box, it's the gLass in front that makes the image...

Hi murkey,

Thanks very much for the reply.

I managed to pick one up on Ebay through a very reputable seller for £254 so hopefully all will be good with that.

I love those two photos of yours. Once I get to know the camera, I hope i can produce images like that!

With regards to the accessories, I don't suppose you'd have a link for the camlink case and the 3 inch GGS glass screen protector. I wouldn't mind finding a case that fits it snugly as I can't see the point in turning the whole thing into a bulky load.

Thanks very much

Ian

Hi Ian

Here is the link to the case but there are lots of other cheap cases on the site just beware of internal sizes not external. Also note these prices are with postage and VAT!!! Cheap....

The GGS glass screen protector was from a company called JUST and I seen them at the show, here is a link to there site. you might be able to get the same screen eslewhere cheaper as they were £10.00 at the show but £12.20 on the site.

I offered up the 3inch protector and it fits well, it could do with being a little longer but the important thing is that is does NOT cover up any of the visible screen, I also have these glass protectors on my Pro SLRS and they are brilliant.

Hey murkey, thanks again for your posts.

I wondered if you wouldn't mind doing me one last favour please? Is there any chance you could take a few good close up shots so that I can see the GGS glass screen protector in place. ust want to see how well it actually fits your S95 before I buy one.

Would be very much appreciated.

Kind regards

Ian

Managed to pick one up yesterday... I was racking my brain the other day trying to remember his name. I'm not even gonna ask him now just in case :(

Cheers for the tip though :)

hey tuttifrutti,

I,ll try to put some pics on in the next few days to show the ggS screen.
Just to put your mind at rest I asked kerso (Ian Kerr) and he never got back to me after he said he would find out how much he could do a S95 for.
I think with postage etc it wasn't worth the hassle for him for how much money was involved.
