Buy used 5Dc now and upgrade when 5DIII available. Good idea?

I'm looking forward to making an investment and upgrading to FF. Problem is the 5DIII is supposed to be around the corner later this year. If that's true, I would like to just jump up to the mk3 but I don't want to wait till then. I already bought a bunch of lighting equipment and the business is ready to pick up now.

I was considering buying a 5Dc for now until the mk3 comes out. I could also keep the 5Dc as a backup later on or simply sell it to help pay for the new camera. I just wanted to get some input here if this seems like a good idea or if I should just wait it out?

The reason I didn't want to wait is because I was getting ready to buy some lenses like the 70-200II, 17-40, and maybe the 85L as well. I don't think my T2i would do these lenses much justice. Plus I'm just naturally a very impatient person :p

What do you guys think?

Why wouldn't your T2i do those lenses justice? The pixel density is even higher, so it requires even sharper lenses than the 5D series.

My personal opinion is to consider a 1D2N/1D3 in place of the 5Dc, depending on what you shoot of course.

From some of the comments I've read on these forums, the T2i doesn't render the images the same so the IQ isn't up to par. I've never used these lenses on the T2i so I can't confirm this. Plus, the crop sensor would be a bit too much for shooting portraits in studio. I already have a bit of a hard time using my 50mm and specially my 100mm indoors for my portraits.

I was also considering the 5Dc for now because it's a more affordable price point for a camera I will probably have temporarily. But I may keep it in the end, I don't know.

I'm trying to shoot primarily portraits, in studio and on location, cars/motorcycles, and landscapes/seascapes. Those are the reasons for mentioning the lenses in the first post.

It's a lovely camera. Excellent for studio shooting. I'd say go for it.

It does seem like it from some of the photos I've seen in the 5Dc thread :)

I'm just very undecided right now as to what I should do. I was ready to pull the trigger but I just don't know.

You might not want the 5D III after using the 5D.

Really? Why is that? I just really really hope the 5DIII is a significant upgrade from the mkII. If not, I will be a very sad panda.

The 5D III is a longer wait then you think. The 5D gives you great results especially people photos.

Yeah the wait is what I'm worried about, which is why I'm considering buying the 5Dc. What should I look for when buying a 5Dc? I mean, I've only bought new so I'm not sure what i should look out for when looking at used cameras. Anything in particular the 5Dc should have replaced or anything like that by now?

Thanks for you input, by the way!

There are a few post already on buying a used camera. I would buy it on this forum from one of our members. You can ask all the questions you need to.This camera is always easy to resell.
