I must say I didn't really go into this prepared. I had no idea exactly what was expected from the parent's so I told them I would go ahead and do everything candid, and for them to act like I wasn't even there for an hour. Any advice shall be heeded with utmost intent. Hahah.

I agree. Very nice;however, I would have liked the 2nd shot more with a shallower depth of field and a tighter crop so that I'm totally and completely drawn to the baby's face and not the lamp behind her. All in all, very lovely.

oops, just looked again. i guess it's a flat screen tv. haha...so clearly i was looking more at the baby than at what's behind her. haha..sorry.

There is a lot of extraneous stuff going on in these, have you tried cropping any of them to direct the viewers' focus to the important stuff? If you turn on "image editing ok", some of us can show you what WE would do with the photos after the fact. You'd be free to accept or reject that advice....my fav is the one of dad feeding baby in the rocking chair. very nice.

Please explain to me what exactly is distracting the viewer here, if you don't mind. =)

I'm really liking this set, I like the fact that you can see the surrounding of babies home, still baby is the centre of attention.... wonderful job.

The BW shots with the dad could be cropped to take out the hallway, and the table with the lamp. That would be the only extraneous stuff I might take out.

Well, the reason I didn't crop out the hallway was solely for the reason that the father was headed that way to change the baby's diaper... I think the most important part of candid photography isn't nailing the technical aspect, but being able to tell a story. (if there are distractions, then sure, but in this case I never felt the hallway was too terribly distracting).

I did however feel the table (and germ-x) was a bit much, but to avoid cropping the photo to an abnormal measurement, I went ahead and left it.
