Of course it will be a long while before it comes.

I read through that article and saw no mention of a Vagabond III. Am I missing something?

Lithium batteries are not re-chargable so that wouldn't make very much sense. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Lithium batteries are certainly rechargeable. Every laptop and mobile phone in the past several years is using lithium.

Here:

"If you like what you see in the Vagabond II results then you might want to order one sooner rather than later. Buff indicates they are in the early stages of development of a Lithium-powered bigger brother to the Vagabond Mini Lithium. At the same time, they're also leaning towards phasing out the Vagabond II, and plan to decide on its future shortly. If they choose to discontinue the product, then the relatively low existing stock levels, says Buff, point towards remaining units being snapped up fairly quickly. Preliminary specifications for the possible next Lithium-based inverter system from the company are not set, nor are other details such as how much it'll cost or when it might ship"

What I found interesting is that PCB might discontinue the Vagabond II even though the VML's lithium powered big brother is currently in the early stages of development. If the V2 (battery, not rocket) is discontinued, PCB may not have a heavy duty portable power source to sell for a year or more. That should put a big smile on the faces of the Innovatronix guys in the Philippines.

I just did a quick google search and here's what I came up with...

What is the difference between Lithium batteries and Lithium Ion batteries?

There are several important differences. The practical difference between Lithium batteries and Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries is that most Lithium batteries are not rechargeable but Li-ion batteries are rechargeable

So perhaps it's lithium-ion they're using? I went shopping for AA's for my 580EX II last week and accidentally bought some lithium e2 AA's by energizer. Returned them because they weren't rechargeable and bought 16x Sanyo Eneloop AA's instead.

That would be correct.

Pretty much anything that uses a rechargeable battery today, uses lithium ion technology.

PCB releasing newer Vagabond's and discontinuing VII doesn't mean their products are not reliable, maybe the trend is like Ipod or other consumer electronic products, newer versions are release every quarter or so! haha :)

Speaking of portable batteries, Innovatronix will be releasing new products this summer, as posted on their website:

Tronix Explorer XT3 and Mini: http://www.innovatronix.com/explorerxt3andmini.asp (external link)

Can't wait to see reviews on which is better, Explorer Mini or Vagabond Mini :)
