About 6 months ago a couple colleagues at work convinced me to try and take this hobby to the next level. Not sure I'm ready, but I guess I'll find out one way or the other. The shot below is the culmination of the last 6 monts of planning and effort. Quite a few of the shots are HDR's of various degree most of which were seen and commented on here.

Thanks to all who have helped steer me towards reaching the first milestone of the process.

Well congrats and good luck at the next level :)
The image looks quite good (esp with all those lights going on) but is there a blue cast on the image overall or at least in the bottom half?
I tried a filter correction on it using the cup on the middle table as a reference and it seemed to warm up and improve the image quite a bit esp. the wood ceiling.

Ahhh, the curse of mixed lighting. However, there is good news! Because you have all of that 32bit data, you can white balance in post multiple times. White balance once for the tungsten lights and white balance a second copy of the image for the daylight coming from the windows behind the camera and then tonemap them identically (you can save the toning curve you use in PSCSx, or save the toning settings in most HDR apps) and then bring both toned images into PS and paint in the daylight balanced image into the bluish areas of the tungsten balanced image.

I'm glad to see you are feeling good about stepping up your game. Keep at it! I swear I have a shot very similar to this - I'll dig it up and post it here. It's a fun journey, isn;t it?

Best of luck in your new endeavor Jon. That looks like a great place to display your gallery.

Thanks guys, much appreciated. I sold my first print from the show yesterday, and wouldn't you know it was an HDR. Actually, for me it was one of my heavier tonemapped images from the CO R/R Museum (below).

Spike: Thanks for pointing out the blue cast. I tried exactly what you were saying when I was processing, but didn't think to pick the cup and didn't come up with anything near acceptable.

Kirk: I'll have to try your trick of processing for each light and blending together. Usually what I do (and did on the above shot) is edit the saturation of which ever color doesn't fit. In this case I pulled down the blue cast from the outside light behind me. Perhaps not enough as you both point out.

Gene: thanks for your well wishes. For a first timer like myself, it's an awesome opportunity!

You're on your way....

It's fitting that your first print sold is a train getting ready to leave the station.

I KNEW my hdr's were starting to look too realistic!. :D

Congrats on your first sale, it's an awsome feeling knowing someone was willing to buy something you created.
