Ladies & gentlemen. I am looking for a bag/backback to hold a Canon 300 f/2.8 on a 30D, and a 500 f/4.0 (not the new one) on a 1DMIV. I am familiar with Lowepro bags, and am wondering if anyone has had success with something similar to the two (2) setups above on other brand bags. Just want to carry the two (2) setups for BIF pics, and leave the rest at home. Considering the cost of those pieces, I do not want a 'cheap' bag. thanks. NickS.

Lowepro's Pro Trekker 600 AW. Expensive, but superb.

The Pro Trekker 300 is smaller and designed to take the 300mm 2.8 lens on a pro body. It is still a large bag but designed for hiking with your gear and tripod, plus it is one of the few that has facility for a drinking bladder.

I thought of its smaller sibling too, but I thought he meant he would want to carry both at the same time (or at least the 1D Mark IV and the 500/4). That's why I mentioned the largest one :). Wonder if you could fit a 30D with a 300/2.8 AND a 1D Mark IV with a 500/4 in that 600 AW really...

I sooo want a Pro Trekker 600 AW, despite not having enough gear to fill the bag LOL :D!

I think even if you could put both those lenses in the 600 you may struggle to carry it any distance, I know when my trekker 400 is loaded it gets a bit heavy and on uneven ground in the hills it is a bit too much for me.

I am coming to the conclusion the only suitable bag for me is one that carries itself and follows me around LOL

Having said that if I just carried the 1D and 300 2.8 it should be OK, then there is the tripod and filters and my gimbal head just in case:confused:

I am looking into the fstop Talopa BC with a selection of ICU's next month (New financial year), not sure whether the 300 will fit in the larger of the ICU?

Gentlemen. Thank you for your input. I will look into the Pro Trekker 300. I am familiar with the Lowepro bags. For what I have/do, I like Lowepro. May end up just taking the 500 on the 1DMIV, and not both setups. (BTW, nice lens. If thinking about buying, buy it now.). Thanks again.
