How long for batteries to charge?

Hello,
Quick question, hope someone can help me out. I just got my used Rebel 300d in the mail a few minutes ago, it did not come with a manual just the camera and the charger and batteries. I have never owned a DSLR before and don't know how long it takes for the batteries to charge up. I have one plugged in now. Can someone give me an idea of how long it takes and when it is charged does the red light turn green or something to let me know if it is done charging?

The light will go green with a genuine canon charger. The batteries usually last me a long time. I dont shoot in long enough situations to tell you how long a battery lasts. That may be something that you would just have to see how much you use it.

For a discharged battery, the manual indicates about 90 minutes.
