Can't See RAW Thumbnail with CS5/Windows 7

Hi All,

When I use Adobe Photoshops CS5 (Windows 7 System) to open Canon RAW file, there is no thumbnail preview with CS5 currently.

Just wonder that is 'normal' or not?

If I install a 3rd party RAW plug-in (? which I'm not sure) for Windows 7 for RAW preview, then the RAW thumbnail will show up with CS5 or not?

What model of camera? And, are you referring to the Bridge browser, or when trying to do a file/open from in the photo editor? At any rate, with newer cameras you want to update Camera Raw by opening Bridge and doing a Help/Updates function.

Didn't use Adobe Bridge; (maybe I should). I just run Photoshop CS5, and browsing to open some RAW files from EOS T2i/550.

Yeah, start with updating ACR via Bridge, and make sure Bridge can "see" the Raw files.

From there, you may need a Windows codec to view the files when doing a File/Open from your PS editor -- I believe it uses the system browser to do that. You can check with Canon for the codec, although with the newer Win7 64 I hear that it's not supported by Canon. I hear though that a codec has been put out by a third party. I believe FastStone may be the provider people are using, but I haven't delved into that 'cause I'm running my Photoshop on an XP box.

Cool, just realize that the Bridge browser will be Raw-friendly whereas the system browser (and the PS File/Open browser) will have different behavior.

Just back home. using Adobe Bridge and see RAW file thumbnail without any problem.
