Just made my first video with the 7D. I have no video editing software so it was all done in camera (had music playing form my lap top). The framing on the video was different that what was on my camera, I figured the greyed out area that was still visable was still part of the video, but guess not. Cut a little bit off the top and the bottom.

It turned out a little dark -- anyone know any cheap, free, basic video editing software (a la GIMP) that I could use to bump the exposure?

I know loads of people use free software but ive never been happy with the workflow needed.
IMO its better to spend a small amount now on something like Sony Vegas 10MSP than to have to use 2 or three free apps to do the same thing.
Vegas will take camera footage and let you edit it, no need for any transcoding ro converting etc.

Saying that, and although ive not tried it myself, if your running Windows Vista or 7 the free Movie maker app is supposed to be pretty decent for (very) basic editing.

The new version of Adobe Premiere will work perfectly with your 7D.
It's want I use now, at least until Apple figures out what they are doing with FCP.
