I have a DroboPro which consists of four "partitions"
Two of which is 2 tb each, one is 4 tb and the last one is 1 tb.
All are HFS+

My computers are mostly Macs, with the exception of the PC that my school gave to me which is a PoS. I use it whenever I'm not doing anything serious, which is all the time.

So my question is. What is the disadvantage of using exFAT instead of HFS+.
The only thing I can think of is that it doesn't save some of the file attributes, or permissions and the fact that Mac OS X at the moment can't (Can it?) repair exFAT volumes.

The pro is that its interoperable, and I do have a PC that can fix the exFAT volume (If Macs can't. I don't quite remember if it can and I'm not at home now.)

By the way, I store all of my data there, one volume is for my photos, another for data, another for time machine backup and the last one for media.

At the time of this post, Data Robotics doesn't support exFAT yet. But I can still format it via disk utility.

Mac OS X Snow Leopard added exFAT support in version 10.6.5 on November 10, 2010. OS X 10.6.5 and later can read, write, and create exFAT partitions.

Apparently you're good to go if your Mac is ready, but I don't see the advantage.

Je n'avais pas besoin de cette hypothèse-là.

I know that all macs OS X 10.6.5 and above are compatible, I mean is there any disadvantage with using purely exFAT. For example, a program won't work with it because it lacks certain file attributes, etc.

A big advantage is that it is cross platform (Not sure about linux yet). Windows Vista SP1 and up I believe for windows (W7 definitely has exFAT) with limited compatibility for XP. Support for macs on 10.6.5 and up.

Does exFAT support journaling?

Being compatible with 10.6.5 and above means a grand total of two versions. That's not exactly a lot. If you're the only who'll ever access it, I suppose it's fine.
