So my DIL calls on Saturday and says she's been invited to a Willhemina agency invitational casting (whatever that is) and needs some new fashion frames yeaterday.

We go out early Sunday and rip off a few looks quickly and the Agency loves them. She has the stats so we're all pretty excited, even though we know it may go no farther.

The only one I really like is the first. All the others look a little rough

Thanks all.

I hope it works for her 'cause she's also a doll.

Very pretty girl. Can I be negative for a second though? Be cautious about what's going to happen next. If I can guess......"we love her look, and think she'd be perfect for what our clients are looking for. She has a great career ahead of her. But we need to get her portfolio first. Here's a photographer that does great work, so set up an appointment with him asap. He knows exactly what the agencies need and you really need better photos to step up your chances.". This guy will charge 700 bucks for probably some good headshots, then you'll wait. And wait.
Happens ALL the time. Plus there might be other fees for your agencies, etc.
I hope I'm wrong....but I wanted to throw out there that it's a very common occurrence.

Thanks so much Ootsk. You're not being negative, you're being rational.

One of my Bilsen models (Dusty) has been in the business a long time and she's been kind enough to "mentor" my DIL. The photographer dodge was one of the first things she mentioned so you are dead on in your caution.

We know the agency is actually Willhemina, we know they are setting up in PA and we know they need Hispanic looks so the best thing is this isn't a scam. With all that said, we shall see what they say.

Thanks you again for the advice. Any more will be gladly received.

Outstanding. You get where I'm coming from. There's people out there that make a LOT of money preying on girls hopes and dreams.

For sure Ootsk.

I coached baseball pitchers for years (sent a few to college) and I couldn't believe the money people gave to various scams in that realm.

Greetings John!

All the best to your DIL. She's beautiful. :D The first shot is definitely a winner and my favorite. She'll do fine. With a bit of luck and if it's right, she'll also do well as a model.
