All I need to do is push the button to finalize the order! Should I or should I not? I want this lens to be a portrait lens for my 7D. I literally spent 3-4 hours today deciding between this and 100 f/2. I almost went for 100 f/2 due to 85's CA problem but I think I can live with it by PP'ing. Should I shell out $399 for this from Adorama or is there a cheaper route (besides used lenses)? I don't want to go the used route because with the new ones, I will have the warranty in case it needs to be calibrated or something.

This lens is amazingly sharp! I bought mine 2 weeks ago so I can take pictures of my daughter playing inside.

B&H. Adorama's shipping policies are simply stupid. Never buy from them again.

"push"

But I have found Adorama to say that they have it in stock, then tell me, oops, nah, won't ship for two weeks, then silence...... Versus B&H, which just hums along.

PUSH>>>>

I just got mine and I like it so much that I now post terrible subjects here on POTN(not that I'm good at photography or anything), just because the images from the lens look amazing to me. :)

So, yeah, you won't regret it.

Alright guys, I did it! Even though Amazon.com is out of stock, I went ahead and placed an order with them with free 2-day shipping. I'm not in a rush and I can wait. There goes my $410! :)

Congraztz you're going to be very happy with the lens. 100 on a crop could be a bit long.

85 F1.8 is currently my go-to lens for any portrait work.

Congrats. I think you'll really like your new lens. I debated between the 85 and 100 when I got mine as well. Figured the 85 has a slightly wider aperture and you can always crop to a similar FOV to 100, but you couldn't go the other way.

The CA is there. No denying it. But, I find that it's rarely a problem in real life shooting. And when it is, you can get rid of it pretty easily as you've mentioned. I'm very happy with my 85 overall. It's crazy sharp and I love how compact and light it is for such a good lens.

Probably the fact that you have to pay for (insured) return shipping yourself.

I lost $35 to this last week when I sent back a crappy Sigma 85.
