Of course I'm beating a dead horse, but I'm considering purchasing one of these beauties! Any last minute input for portrait and fashion type shooting? I already own softboxes, but want to explore the round catchlight effect...

They're both very nice. As much as I love the Cheetah octa, it's a flush front and won't accept a grid. The Photoflex will accept a grid. If that's not an issue then I can highly recommend the Cheetah.

Thanks for your response Robert! However, I believe Cheetah offers 2 Octaboxes. 1 with and 1 without a flush front. I'm a big fan of Grids....

Cheetah used to offer both versions. No longer.

If that's true it looks like Photoflex is in my future... I thought I saw a withor without grid listing still up on the Cheetah site!

Edward hasn't had the recessed versions of the Octa's for a while. The strip boxes are still being offered with grids.

I'm most likely going to get a 3' Photoflex Octodome and Grid. The other contender was the Creative Light brand. Creative Light has great speedrings too! A few more checks down the line and I might get into the strip boxes. My photography doesn't justify those yet.

Robert I'm dying to get 2 strip lights! The spill I get from my Qbox24's kill me even when I put up 2x3 solid siders and the grid on the fixture. I can't justify the purchase right now because of my leaky roof on the flat part of my house!
