This is my first time taking photos with a DSLR. I picked up a Rebel 300d used and this one of the first shots I took of my mini Dachshund Princess..

Hey! is that shot with my lens? Great shot! I like the shallow depth of field. Cute dog. I have a Datsun too. :-)

Nice shot but it would have been better if the focus had been on the eyes. I also used to have the same camera and it got me to pay more attention to the focus points after getting the same kind of photos.;)

Thanks so much for the tip.. This was actually my very first shot with the lens and the camera so I'll try next time to put her eyes in those focus points. Also my first time in years using a view finder.. I have been using point and shoots that display the shot in the LCD screen ever since they came out with them so It will be an adjustment for me to go back to using the viewfinder with this 300d. But I figure this is my very first DSLR camera and I'll use it for just a little while before I move up to a newer model. I was thinking about the 60D when I get ready to move up.
