A weather thread!!! Sweet!!!! Iowa has been hot, 90's plus heat indices which have been as high at 118ºf. Too hot for me.
The rainfall is unbelievable as well. Farms were 5 weeks late planting, and now with the amount of rain, most farms are ponds now. Great sadness has befallen the land. I do feel for the farmers. Most have lost their entire crop.

I am on temp layoff. I see it as sort of a vacation, but i am getting bored. I have had a chance to go through my gear however and refresh my skills on a few things. It's been pretty sweet.

On a sad note, my beloved cat Charlie has passed away. He was 16, and I kept him about 2 weeks too long, due to my selfish nature. One morning I woke up and realized it was time. I miss the old fellow, but I have thousands of images of him.

This is Cam. She was Charlie's buddy to the end. She is a sweetie and spent a lot of time with Charlie the last few months. I think she knew he wasn't long for this world.

Oh, and old threads don't die, they just fade away until someone finds it and posts to it, then it's like it never faded away at all!.

As you were! ;-)a

WooHoo.. Global weather channel. And now for the Texas report. It has been a relatively cool summer so far, at least for Texas. ZERO 100 (37.7C) degree days so far and we have actually had more than 1 day (maybe 2) were it didn't reach 90 (32.2C). Pool temps is hovering around 84/86, a bit chilly when you first get in. I'm thinking that the heat will crank up later in July and August.

Awesome! We haven't reached the actual 100º day, but came close with a couple 97 and 98º days! We are breaking rain totals too. And the guy who weed&feeds my lawn always manages to do it the day before a huge 3 day rainfall. Lots of exercise for me walking behind the mower. No snakes though.

Really?

They probably are there but don't need to come out to warm up in the sun, so they stay hidden. It's why you're more likely to see them in spring, coming out to lie in the sun to raise their body temp, so they can move faster and catch some yummy food.

Our rain ended around the first of August, and they are starting to show the drought map instead. Farmers cannot catch a break in Iowa this year. Today will be 88, some rain tonight, then sunny and 70's for the rest of the week and into next week. I'm back to work and NOW it gets nice. -?
