Finally pulling out of the deep freeze. Back into the 40's this week, although the lows at night will still be teens/twenties. The snow that fell should be gone by Tuesday is my guess. Autumn/Winter are my favorite seasons, and I always sleep better in the colder months, but it makes it more difficult for photographic endeavors. This year has flown past. Thanksgiving is this week already. Yikes! Good friends, good food and good times. And so the holidays begin.

These days winter is my least favorite month. Fresh snows are always pretty but the reality is grey, cold, damp, and shushy. I am totally a summer person. I like green, flowers, bugs, swimming, all the summer type of stuff.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

This morning the temperature was only 12°F brrr cold!! Today we got 3-4 inches of the white cold stuff on the ground.
Tomorrow maybe 40°
Thursday a heat wave at 50°!!! The snow will be gone for sure by then!

We are doing the same. Going to be upper 40's and 50ish this week and into next week, and teens and low 20's at night. End of next week is more snow again. This is the type of weather that gives me my first real Winter cold.

I like a white Christmas, but after January 1, I'm ok losing the snow again. The last few summers here have been hot (triple digit temps) and we're in drought conditions. Gotta love global warming!

April is the cruellest month, breeding Lilacs out of the dead land, mixing Memory and desire, stirring Dull roots with spring rain. Winter kept us warm, covering Earth in forgetful snow, feeding A little life with dried tubers.

Not sure, but I thought that kid helped invent the inter-planetary-phone-home system for Verizon, and flying bikes?

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!! (for those who celebrate the holiday)

Yes, have a great one all of you in the USA (and citizens not in the US but celebrate it anyway). Normal working day for me.

First Winter Weather Advisory today. Snow, with a layer of sleet to ensure you slip and fall. So glad I no longer work EMS. I never got injured in snow/ice, but I did have a couple partners who did. One required knee surgery after falling on the icy sidewalk. This was around the time when Yax Trax first appeared on the market, and we were the last to get them. Police, fire then EMS. Sometimes common sense doesn't play into decision making. Le Sigh...

Gonna get cold here as well. Maybe down to 30 tonight. Plants have to get close to the house I think.

I Googled Yax Trax which came back as Yaktrax. Looks like a good thing to get!!!

Yaktrax!!! That's the name. When they first came out the majority went to public service workers such as police, fire, postal carriers, but they forgot about us. We were able to obtain them, but it still took a little while before there were enough for the public, and now there are so many variations available and so much more affordable.

I currently live in the Midwest US. When I worked EMS I lived in Metro Detroit, Michigan. I was born and raised in the Metro Detroit area and lived there until 1991. I moved around the country for 10 years, then moved to Iowa as I have family here. I've been here for 21 years? I have found Iowa to be the most friendly state I've lived. And wicked cold winters. Lots of fields, so no real wind blocks when Winter hits :-|

I had a set of Yaktrax and they did great on ice or in the field, but in an urban environment without ice, they were as slippery as waling on ice without them.
