I had a set of Yaktrax and they did great on ice or in the field, but in an urban environment without ice, they were as slippery as waling on ice without them.

Do you mind elaborating a bit for me?

The ones i had looked very similar to THESE (external link). On ice they were great, barely slip at all. You can even climb a hill when things are all icy. However, when walking with them on bare pavement, they were as slippery as walking on ice without them. It's like the metal rings would keep the tread from touching the sidewalk and metal on concrete isn't very grippy.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

Very true. We learned that lesson early on as well. We only wore them when there was ice or glazed pavement. We did better in snow without them. Ours were the metal style. I saw that they came out with some sort of poly material pairs that did not do so well on any surface.

The silence is deafening! Did we not pay our keyboard fee this month, resulting in keyboards being suspended?

(You know, somewhere at some time, someone likely thought of that idea.)

Every once in a while someone comes along and totally smokes the original song. I hated the original. Every time I heard it I wanted to pull a Belushi and smash the guitar over the head of whoever was playing it. But David Draiman just smokes it. I know he was trying to prove to all the nay-sayers that he can actually sing but dang, I love this version.
