My grass is mostly brown. My pine trees look almost dead. We could use a good storm or 10.

Same, except I don't have pine trees. My grass has browned out and it's looking pretty sad. We needed the rain and got a decent amount, but we can use more. I'm fine with rain, I just hate the stormy part.

Weather report Monday. THe heat is on. Garden done for the next 2 months. We had tons of tomatoes this year, most ever. Been eating fresh brochette every night. Made some sauce and canned some diced tomatoes as well. Well let the plans go, but the won't grow much, just too dang hot. Then around the end of August, early Sept. the put out a second crop if we can keep them alive over the next 2.5 months. If not, we'll plant a new one. Had a bunch of acorn squash as well but something got to them and they all have some critter living inside. Big'ol' worm type critter.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

I love tomatoes. I never had a garden but would create a container garden on my patio and grow cherry tomatoes. They usually never made it into the house. I would eat them off the vine when they ripened. I had planned a garden when I bought the house but sadly work and life ruled my existence and it never happened. I also have a tree which shades my entire back yard, so I think that success would be limited. I'm hoping my next home (apartment) will have a balcony which will provide a place for a small container garden.

I'm not the gardener, my wife is. I just do the heavy lifting and eating. She is the one that knows all there is to know about growing things. There is something special about a tomato just picked and consumed. Just cant get any fresher than that unless you bend over and nibble it while still attached, but that just seems so wrong.

Take the tomato a few feet away from the vine before you bite into it, or at least turn around so the other tomatoes won't see what you're doing. It's just common decency.

Agree, no need to rile up all those negative feeling a young, unripe tomato might get. Keep them ignorant and happy and well supplied with Miracle Grow. Tell'em it's for their own good. I saw Sausage Party and well know what goes on the minute I turn my back.

Now I'd better look up this Sausage Party thing to keep up with what's current. Research, research. It never ends.

I read Wiki's synopsis too. Just from that, I think I'd enjoy the humor but not the violence, if the animated characters were done convincingly.

Speaking of food, today Trader Joe's chicken wings were $3.99/lb and drumsticks were $1.99/lb. Isn't that odd? Drumsticks have more meat on them and are easier to eat, not much fussy picking at little bones.

We don't have a Trader Joes. Is it prepared food or do I have to cook it? We have Pizza Ranch which actually has the best (actually only) fried chicken in town, but i don't think thats what you're referring to...Also, I believe I just made the 21,000 post of this thread!
