G6 fixed. Turned out to be the transmission position sensor. Car thought it was in drive or reverse, not sure which, but because it didn't think iot was in park or neutral, it would not engage the starter. Removed the starter relay in the fuse boz, manually shorted out the leads to engage the started and got it running and back home. Took the console apart and gave the switch a good cleaning, put it back together and all is now working again. Cost = $0. I love fixes like that.

Had something similar happen in my 2016 malibu. Took the console apart to find a tiny micro switch. Yeah, not much I could do to clean it. Was able to get the dealer to replace the part under warranty. The part they replaced was the entire shift mechanism. The single switch isn't offered as a replacement. I've had the gas/accelerator pedal fail as well. New cars are drive by wire. Let me tell you it's a scary situation when you try to accelerate across a busy intersection and the car won't accelerate. Only one bolt and a wire is all that is there to replace the pedal. So it was simple.
Glad you were able to repair your G6. G6 owners absolutely love their cars. Never drove one.
I miss the days of being able to sit inside the engine compartment of a car to replace the cap, rotor and points, and replacing the plugs didn't mean removing a hundred different parts just to reach the plug. When I open the hood now, I don't even see the engine, I see everything on top of it, none of which I can identify. To fill the washer fluid, I have to identify the cap which has the emblem which most resembles washer fluid hitting the windshield. I have two key fobs. One has to be with me for me to start the car. I have a key which only unlocks the car if I don't have the fob with me, and if the fob fails, the car doesn't start. The key doesn't start it. I priced it out. The dealership wants roughly $450 dollars to replace. ACE hardware will only charge me around $270.00. The ignition on the column accepts the key, but I don't need the key to start it. It will turn and start the car without a key inserted, as long as I have the fob. I know they use a button now, but still, $270 to replace a key which is essentially manufactured to fail is beyond belief. I miss my 72 Duster.
