I attempt to befriend anything that eats bugs. I don't kill spiders, I relocate them...

All spiders must die.

They're awesome for making nachos, and boiling a cup of water. A lot of things are dangerous if you don't use them properly.

Nacho's and reheating coffee.

I don't own a microwave but when visiting my parents I may in a drastic moment warm up a coffee...

I wish I could get my wife to understand the dangers of microwaves. She'll stick any kinda dish in the thing, and very often really over heat the food. :(

Don't stick a wet puppy in there to dry it off.

They do, eventually, but they don't need to die prematurely.

Exactly! They have beautiful eyes, especially the four middle ones, and they actually look at you. They're very intelligent for their size. They can jump ten times their body length. My camera(s) don't do justice to jumpers (no real macro lens).

Yes. I have images of blue-eyed, green-eyed, and brown-eyed varieties :)

Point taken. As long as they hang out with you, they are in no danger

Anything that looks like that which can jump 10 times their body lengths...is bad. If you have no macro lens, how are you getting this close to them? I have a 100mm macro, but to get that close for a shot...would take a lot of alcohol.

I usually have one or two extension tubes on my 100mm when I shoot jumpers, which allows me to get closer for more magnification. The draw back is, they frequently jump onto my lens, being the curious little buggers that they are.

My blue-eyed spider can be seen here: https://photography-on-the.net …showthread.php?p=11784520

I can't believe we're still talking about photography stuff. This is crazy. :p

Why? That's only 4 inches.

If you have no macro lens, how are you getting this close to them?

They're not that shy. Sometimes, in fact, it's hard to get enough distance. They jump onto the camera or onto my hand. Macro setting on compact camera, sometimes augmented with zoom. I used my little pocket camera for that shot.
