I grew up in Detroit to! Sure we abandoned the place in 1979, but I liked living there and enjoy going as often as I can.

Oh you fled early. I didn't flee until 1991. I still have family there and enjoy going to visit. Well, they tell me I enjoy it, I'm not so sure. I miss Metro Beach.

I'd ask you about your 5D, but that didn't work out so well last time, now did it? ;-)a

Ok, reset the timer...

LOL.... I'm almost in my right mind tonight.... the 5Dc showed up and is in pristine condition. It only has around 20k shutter actuations. The grip was in the locked PO box when I got home this morning around 1:30AM. It is also in perfect condition.... I couldn't be happier. The Canon grip I bought on eBay also came with 2 third party batteries and a charger. I was able to get the RRS L bracket used as well.

My first venture into full frame cost me next to nothing. Around 11% of the cost of everything if purchased new... with 2006 dollars. I know the 5Dc has limitations, esp. with ISOs, but for what I'm going to be doing with it, it will be fine. I'll mostly use it when I'm out birding for landscapes and people photographs, on a tripod, so lower ISOs will be fine. That way, I'll be able to be more spontaneous as I won't have to change lenses on my 1D IV.

Sweet! I'm also impressed with how much I got for so little. I like the basics of it as well. Very few bells and whistles, it forces you to interact. I like that part. Now pics or it never happened 8-)

I enjoy not visiting Detroit as often as possible. Which is all the time.

Heard a question on a BBC tv show last week that got me looking at a map. "What is the only American city where if you head directly south from it you are in Canada?" Answer "Detroit"

Seems to be true. Anyway, most probably obvious, and boring, to those of you who already knew that, but amuzed me for a few seconds.

Saturday is here and it's sunny :-D have a good weekend folks.

I just took a closer look at the photo and cropped it. He is standing in front of the printer, he is not looking at the printer...

Hope this helps! :-)

All this talk of Detroit has me reminiscing.

I miss Boblo, The Ghoul, the Spirit of Detroit Regatta, and cruising Woodward.

I don't miss the dreary skies, brown winters, and rusty cars.

Sadly, I have received ZERO royalties from that, and I should have, because my name is Sam, so, Sam I am, bla bla bla.

Today, whenever someone says that to me, I'll either tell them that or, when cranky, "I've never heard that before!"

I also miss Boblo, The Ghoul, don't remember the Detroit Regatta, and we cruised Gratiot. Good times.
I miss the Faygo guy and the song. When I go back to visit, or someone from there comes to visit me, there is always a nice supply of Rock'N'Rye. Good stuff! Red Pop was my favorite as a child. Rock'N'Rye replaced that as I grew up.

The Regatta is the week long boat races on the Detroit River. Belle Isle? You know, the Thunderboats. The Roostertail.

Yep, did Gratoit as well.

Lived on Woodward, right next to Mickey Shorr's for a few years. Drag racing off the front porch.

Gratoit, how could I forget Gratoit Auto Supply? And Linda Vaughn.

And we used to get our hotrod parts from Gapp and Roush.

And Faygo. In the old wooden crates. Yep, good times indeed.

Two nuts were walking down the sidewalk.

One was a salted.

Man sits down at the bar and orders a beer. While he's waiting, a peanut pops out of the bowl and says "nice shirt".
The man looks at the bartender, and the bartender says "don't mind them, they're complimentary nuts."
