It's always the same. When returning to Scotland for a visit, my wife gets amazed by stuff that was literally on my doorstep that I never bothered to visit, but now do as a tourist!

At some point I'll go back to visit friends, and my nephew and his family live there. I'll do some more of the tourist stuff, but it will cost me ever so much more than if I had done the tourist thing while I lived there.

I detest going to the Las Vegas Strip. Once in a while for a special occasion dinner, and we've been to a few concerts and shows. And we don't gamble.

I lived in the bay area for 5 years. The problem with living there is you don't do the tourist thing. I went to Alcatraz but never to Knotts Berry Farm, or San Simian (sp?) a.k.a. Hearst castle.

Knotts Berry Farm and San Simeon are in Southern California, not near here at all.

We habitually do some of the tourist things as day trips. Golden Gate Park, the museums, the zoo, Union Square, North Beach, the Embarcadero and the piers area, Ocean Beach, the Presidio, . . . If you favor walking as a way to get around to see things, and you pick interesting walks, you'll naturally end up in popular areas. Too popular in tourist season, when they're crowded with tourists.

San Simeon is near San Luis Obispo, more central. That would be a day trip. Never made it to the zoo. Union Square, North Beach and GGP were cool. Pier 39 and Fishermans Wharf were also cool. My other half had an office on the Embarcadero. Her window looked out on the piers. We did the dinner cruises a few times. Hamburger Mary's was great. I heard they reopened finally, but not sure it has the same atmosphere? Oddly, my favorite restaurant was Peppermill in Daly City. I hear that closed too.

Finally Friday! My last day of work for 2 weeks. I'm getting my knee scoped again to remove a piece of meniscus which is causing my knee to lock up. Surgeon told me my knee is pretty bad, and I'll have a knee replacement by the time I'm 60. Good times....good times.

Good luck with the procedure, you should have plenty of time on your hands in the next couple of weeks to kill some threads in here!!

A good friend at work had a knee replaced 7 or 8 weeks ago. He still can't straighten it out all the way, or walk without a limp. PT sounds painful, too.

I would hope so. We had a doctor here a few years back that was reusing needles and gave a few people hepatitis.

Yup. It led to one of the biggest hep C outbreaks in US history. He was convicted of murder, among other things.

You'd think doctors make enough money that they wouldn't have to reuse syringes.

I wonder how many times he reuses condoms.

As long as you use the dishwasher safe variety, you can use them indefinitely.

Sorry - I have to add a bit of pedantry on this. Condoms can only withstand 40-45 washings before they begin to degrade to an extent that threatens the safety of the user's purpose. Nippled condoms have about 10% less washing lifetime due to the extra action on that portion.

Your mileage may vary.

You must be using pot scrubber and heat dry. Clothes line outside on a Spring day works best.

Yeah, this is the second time for me. PT is almost worse than the surgery.

Mine was a team doc for NY Giants and is currently the team doctor for ISU in Ames IA

Scary!

I wonder how many times he reuses condoms.

Creepy!

Sensible! And I see what you did there. Clever.
