Rio Bravo, Big Jake, McLintock... the list is long. Even his "newer" ones were pretty good. I enjoyed The Shootist.

I thought that the original True Grit was great and was surprised that the remake was as good as it was.

The new Magnificent 7 though was nothing compared to the original.

I am totally into the old time westerns. Not really into the new ones. Never seen Brokeback but I didn't think it was a western. Give me a The Magnificent Seven (original, not the remake), Red River, classic Wayne, or the Searchers. Great westerns.

Have you seen Bone Tomahawk with Kurt Russell? Now there's a western of a very different sort. Even the Youtube trailer is... unnerving.

It's my life and I'll get pissed if I want to.

Starts out western enough. Even has a little humor. Then in the middle, it takes a violent left turn into horror. Not your standard western at all and definitely not for the squeamish. You've been warned.

Looks to be a lot worse, gore-wise than even Tarantino movies. Not necessarily more gore, but more realistic.

I like a lot of Clint Eastwood's westerns. I remember watching A Fistful of Dollars on the big-screen with my Dad when it first came out, and then all the ones that followed. I can watch The Outlaw Josey Wales over and over, and I thought Unforgiven was one of the best of the genre ever.

Yes. 'Intense' doesn't cover it.

Unforgiven is one of my favorites. It's in my library. I can't believe that Disney's lil Kurt Russell, partnered with Goldie Hawn all these years can do such violence!!! He was very good in Tarantino's The Hateful Eight.
