^^ If that house is also a B&B, I'd pay premium money to stay there. Nice architectural addition, to be sure.

Perhaps not a lighthouse- it looks more like an airport control tower, including RADAR. There is a place for seaplanes on the chart, but it isn't in any airspace that would have a control tower.
There is a nice cathedral in the background. ItThe tower is on the "President Wilson quay". (Edited to avoid confusion about what on the quay)

There used to be a tower like that in Sydney harbour. They called it 'The Pill' because it controlled all the berths in the harbour.

Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.

Is that the one one that fell on hard times (2015), and was discontinued when the berthing rate fell dramatically due to the global recession? :p

That's the one. I didn't know why it was demolished but noticed it was gone when I went to Sydney last year, so thanks for the back-story.

How did they "carefully deconstruct" a concrete tower other than using explosives?

I wasn't in Sydney when it was 'carefully deconstructed' but I'd assume it was dismantled in sections that were lowered by crane. Unless 87m (285 ft) is too high for cranes. I don't know enough about cranes but I reckon that would have been how it was built. The area has been developed as parkland. There seems to have been some controversy at the time over whether it should have been demolished as an ugly eyesore or retained as part of Sydney's maritime heritage and a representative example of 1960s Australian concrete brutalist architecture, and used to allow people to experience its sweeping views over Sydney harbour without having to climb the bridge.

Bit different from previous posts, so trust this is all okay.

I don't have photos, well only slides, but King Island off n'east end of Tasmania, in Bass Strait was a mass of shipwrecks with horrific loss of life. Cape Wickham lighthouse was built on north coast to alert sailors.
Sailors would head around the southern tip of mainland Australia in ignorance of King Island and run straight into it.

The lighthouse was originally established in 1861, in response to the sinking of the barque Cataraqui sixteen years earlier, a disaster which had resulted in the deaths of 400 people.
There were many other wrecks and resulting deaths. 224 in one alone

For those interested here's a bit of brief history of the many tragedies and loss of life (external link)

Below is a stark reminder of the consequences. Its an old survey (boundary) peg from foreshore boundary, retrieved by me whilst resurveying them in the 70's.

It is Teak and as it was placed there in early 1900 or late 1800's would have been the remains of an old wreck.
There's a large hole in top part and imagine it would have been part of original construction

(Knowing how well teak lasts I should have left it in place. Not sure how the metal bar I replaced it with would last in salty air!)

I do not see the light/lens in this lighthouse. Is it still a working lighthouse? Does not look to me like it is......

No it is no longer lit. There is a light off shore on a tower. This is the web page to learn about the lighthouse. http://lighthousefriends.com/light.asp?ID=436 (external link)
The area is supposed to be haunted, it was a civil war prison camp.
