Just AF tested my Sigma lenses | Need feedback

I originally bought my camera and my lenses for filming, so I always used manual focus. However, photography has now become an equal priority, so I wanted to test the auto-focus on all my Sigma lenses. They are all still under full warranty.

This is my first time conducting an auto-focus experiment, so feedback would be appreciated.

Everything is shot at f1.4, 320 iso, 1/500 on a tripod in RAW format, full 18mp resolution on a Canon 60D. I used the "middle auto-focus point" for every photograph.

This is my first time conducting the experiment, and I'm fairly new to auto-focusing in general. I would like feedback from people who have a more experienced perspective on auto-focus expectations.

To me it looks like these tests are very positive, but I would like a second, more experienced opinion. Essentially, if these were YOUR lenses, would you be content with those results?

I have never had much luck with those charts. Especially wide open. My results were never 100% repeatable. That made it frustrating to no end. Test aside, do you feel the lenses are letting you down focus wise when using them?

PS: Pictures look underexposed.

I'm in Canada. Isn't that weird!

Would the underexposure skew the results? From my understanding, that won't impact the test, it will just cause the picture to be, well, darker than ideal. It's still readable though, right?

I have literally just begun auto-focusing this last week... before then, I was strictly manual since it's all I have been using for film. I want to reach a conclusion as fast as possible because I have to photograph an event in California for work in early May, and I want to make sure I have reliable AF with my lenses. If there's a problem with the lenses, I need to find out soon so that I have time to send them in for calibration in time for the event.

Thanks for your time.

Put down the test charts and take actual photos. THEN evaluate.

They look fine, just go out and shoot, any focus problems will show.

If you can, take your current gear set into a similar environment as where you will be shooting in May. Take some test shots. Take a look at the pictures.

What are you doing with the pictures? Archiving them? Going on a website? Magazine? Poster? You can get away with different levels of quality depending on what you are doing with the images.

Honestly, your best bet is to use the lenses. You have a month. Worst case you rent a new lens for the gig that will suit the venue (ie: focal length, aperture, IS or no IS, zoom or prime).

That's what I thought too when viewing the pictures, I just felt having the opinions of other more experienced photographers would help. Cheers.
