Like that first one with the dog concentrating on its steps.

Recognize the Pine trees. What's the other tree up there - Incense Cedar?

BTW ...

The "lone pine" if its the one in the middle, is actually a conifer more like a Noble Fir.

:D

the second photo is called "lone pine" which is why i referred to it that way.

Do you hand-hold the camera for these? If a tripod, what to do with the legs?

I had never really even thought about using a tripod on snow before. Are there special attachments for the legs?

Hee Hee!! Nice photos... it is funny that the "Lone Pine" isn't a pine , though !!! Good catch mdvaden !!

Kinda looks like a spruce of some sort, too, if it's not a fir. Don't know what type of spruces you'd have out west, though, so can't say for sure.

I guess "Lone Fir" didn't quite have the same ring. HA! Thanks for pointing out my lack of education on trees

All the pics were hand-held. Trying to walk off of the road meant being hip deep in fresh snow.

Thanks! I was really happy with the treatment of the second one, it was one of those rare times (for me at least) where I saw the end product before I shot the pic.

Super shots - particularly love the one with the dog and his paw prints.

Is the lone pine any relation to the lonesome pine in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia? :D

Thanks, Darla is very tolerant of our wacky ideas.
