I have a desktop that I've built myself and have been using PCs forever, but recently I had to move into a smaller apartment that didn't have enough room for a desktop (which is left at my parent's house). So I purchased the new 13" MBP yesterday, which is great and I've already got the hang of the OS. But I am not sure what to do with my photos and music, as far as keeping a current "library" of media on each. I have ~10k photos that I'd like to have on my laptop too, and another ~5k songs. The problem is, if I download music or import photos on my laptop, then my desktop at another date, they could get out of sync and things will get real confusing real fast. Manually moving the files over with a usb stick or something is an option, however I would want to update my lightroom library as well and I'm not sure if this is really possible. As far as itunes goes it looks like I can only sync with one computer, so I might as well just make the macbook my itunes computer.
Anyone have experience working with both computers, and how did you handle this? I suppose this would really be applicable to someone with 2 pcs or 2 macs that wanted to do the editing on both.
I suppose what I'm currently thinking is to only do minor editing on the mac and then just copy those files over to the PC when I'm done, keeping a mental note of which files aren't on the PC yet. I'll use the macbook as a temporary workstation, and have the desktop PC be my main library of photos. But ideally I'd like both to have the full library.
