I need your opinions on a composite I put together for printing and framing.

This is a pic of an ethnic group girl I took in far northern Laos..

I think they look good. A bit of fill or reflector could have been used to take care of some of the shadows, but they're not detrimental to the pictures at all.

You think??

Bearing in mind, I don't carry reflectors or lighting gear when I'm in the wilds of Laos..

your welcome
I prefer the B&W I think it makes it look better all around plus in the color version the blue band on her sleeve draws focus from her face.

Her smile is what makes these pictures very appealing.

No mention of being in the "wilds"...she hardly looks like she lives in the jungle, so no reason to be a smart-a$$ about it. And, "You're welcome".

I wasn't being a smart arse:D

This was shot in a very remote area of of Laos, only about 10klms from the Chinese border..There is no electricity in her village of about 200 people and they draw their water from a nearby stream.. Nearest town is about 30klms from where I took these images..

Here is another thread about the same girl.. It might be a good idea to read it and get the full story..

The placement of the images are in the order I shot them.. Quite a shy little thing she was..

As I was talking to her she (via an interpreter) was smiling and looking away (1st image).. The third image was when she finally looked up at me..

It was the natural progression..

I think it's better in color.

Anyway, those are good pictures, but I personally feel like they're a little bit redundant. But that's without knowing anything about what you're trying to do. What goal were you trying to achieve? Why did you present the pictures in this way?

Hey Gene,, I just liked the natural progression of the images.. They are in the exact order I took them from left to right (three exposures).. From an almost embarrassed smile to a confident eye contact..

I listened to her story via an intrepretor and she kind of touched me.. Once framed, I'll hang this composite with my other images as a momento of a very driven, focused and humble girl..

Here is her story..

Oh, hey...I get what you're saying. And I think it's a cool idea. And those are good pictures. It's just, like I said, I think there's some redundancy there. That might have been the natural progression, but it MIGHT work better (in my opinion, not necessarily yours) if you cut out one of the pictures.

I think someone stated that #1 doesn't fit well with #2 and #3. And while I respect that opinion and agree with it on some points, I disagree one one particular point...the fact that it "doesn't work well" with the other two pictures is exactly WHY I think that picture #1 should be left in.

See...going from picture #1 to picture #2 DOES show to me a natural progression. What makes picture number 1 work is that it IS so much different than pictures #2 and #3. It shows a progression, it's a different view of things.

But the redundancy that I was talking about appears when looking at pictures #2 and #3. They are absolutely different, but I personally feel that they are so similar that one of them could go.

So...maybe just an idea? Keep #1, and then lose either #2 OR #3?

Again...just my thoughts. I'm not saying that you're wrong, I'm just calling things the way I see them. I personally like this series a lot, but it just feels a little bit redundant to me. And I think in my mind, it's #2 and #3 that are causing me to feel that way.
