It's hard to tell since you resized the images so small, on the two better shots. .

if you have the option, indoor volleyball should ALWAYS be strobed, its so dark in most of those gyms

Anything in a gym, should generally be strobed, since lighting is poor.

Strobed? That's a manual setting though, wouldn't that be somewhat of a pain to set up? Couldn't second curtain sync in ETTL work well also? You'd be restricted to 1/250th, but oh well. Your also restricted to 1/250th if you strobe it too aren't you? The only time you can go over that is with high speed sync in ETTL.

It's done all the time, by pros, with strobes. Of course its next to impossible in many gyms. I am just being really hypothetical. But that's the setup for NBA arenas. Like 4-6 strobes for use for the photographers.

I wish I could use a strobe for volley, for those who can, I'm jealous and your spoiled :).At the Time the pics are taken, I wasn't sure if I was going to canon. So I bought the Noink 50MM, Geting a fast lens to get "Decent" shots and not spending too much money at the same time. It's been 3 months, Money beeing saved for a Canon 20D and 70-200MM 2.8 IS... I don't prefer the 50mm 1.8 for volley, it's VERY Hard to tell if the players in focus or the Crowd is, again VERY HARD and Tricky.

canon weight ;)

I don't know about the rules in your part of the country, but no flash or strobes allowed in most leagues out here.

Some nice shots there,

I can see why they don't allow strobes there. How distracting would that be, just as you're about to flick the ball over, flash flash. As a player, I wouldn't be happy with those distractions. Just do some fill light, RAW, photoshop magic.

Maybe you'll make the right decision soon, and go to that 20D + 70-200 IS, you had in your signature recently. :)

You know you need it now. The L is calling your name.;)

Just a suggestion though, if your going to shoot almost exclusively sport, drop the 70-200 f/2.8L IS idea. I think you'll find it limiting...

Personally, for that price range I'd shoot for a 135 f/2L + 300 f/4L IS combo with maybe a $90 1.4x t-con. That'll cover indoor and outdoor stuff. The 70-200 range isn't going to be long enough for outdoor sports. Those fields are huge, and f/2.8 isn't fast enough for indoor sports.

Another idea, 300 f/4L IS with 85 f/1.8. Good combo for outdoor sports plus stuff like volleyball, basketball, ect. Also cheaper. You wouldn't have anything for night football games with that though... the only problem.

Just an idea. I've done a good amount of sports shooting with my 70-200 f/4, and I find it very frustrating. Within the next 6-8 months I'll have an 85 f/1.8, 135 f/2L, and 300 f/4L IS combo in my sig. What I believe to be the most cost affective supreme sports shooting set of lenses out there.:)

Really?
I've had no problem. I'm sure a 70-2000 would focus a tad faster, and you could zoom in to see focus, but I've not had problems with the 50mm.
