This is all personal preference. If you like nikons feel\ergonomics better then go nikon. Brand loyalty is for fanboys. I personally like canons feel and button layout more than any other brand I tried so I shoot canon :)

I just hope Canon incorporates the new grip on the 7D to all of their Pro range of camera bodies.
The feel of the 5D Mark II grip does not come close to the 7D.
Hmm. Maybe the 5D Mark III will please me.

Me things that some of you see cameras as sex toys or something like that (soft, supple, hard and cold plastic, soft plastic, cushioned, soft outer layer....) :)

A camera is just a tool, and there is no way possible for either Canon or Nikon to build a camera that would be perfect to all. Besides, can you imagine how boring such a camera would be?

I know its not the 'feel' but if Nikon are supposed to be that good, why can't they manufacture their own sensor? Whilst the image sensors may be designed by Nikon, they are still being manufactured by Sony.

Since the earliest days, Canon at least have long produced their own image sensor and processors......

By comparison, I find that Nikon just feels too "Fiddly" whereas Canon's control fall more naturally to the hand.

YMMV...

not controls people. just the feel of the grip. it's a sensitivity to materials. nothing to do with sex, but how some materials suck heat from your skin, others the opposite. has to do with product design, not even going into ergonomics. like the leather on a 9.3 Saab Aero vs a ford focus.

I still have to give it to Canon. Nikons feel to soft IMO. More like rubber, where Canon feels more like leather.
I also find that the Canon grips tend to feel a bit colder. I like that.

I have the same feeling towards Nikon D300, D300s, D700. Feels very solid and grippy. Speeking of ergonomics, it's a shooter's camera. You almost never need to go into menu. Canon's 7D and 5D feels amateurish in comparison.

true... I shoot with a D700..almost never go to the menu indeed :D

For me, the Nikon controls suck. It is a very quirky user interface. Give me a new canon and I can navigate to every feature within 5 mins. Nikon features are buried all over the place.

Personally, I have smaller hands and the Nikon's always felt too bulky for me.
