Hi All,
Big lurker small poster here, and in need of some advice please.
I've been trying to catch the flying bee image as we all have done at some stage. Myself, I have not had much luck getting one I'm happy with. Anyway today I put my 100 2.8 IS into high speed burst mode and the first image is crisp but subsequent images drop focus. I thought maybe it was me swaying so I put it on the tripod and got my cable release.
Here's a couple of test images as shot, no pp, just 50% crop. Only posted two but they continue to fall further out of focus. the real world images are way worse than these.
It was getting late in the day so the shutter speed in this test is slow but it shows what's happening.
So the questions are.
Is this normal?
Do I have an issue with the lens?
Could it be the body?

Apologies for the images, having to use the old laptop at the moment.
Any ideas would be great, thanks.

Most all macro lenses have slower AF. Most people do not use AF for macro work. Burst and such a slow shutter spped probably do not mix well.
