Hello.

I'm not in a photography school but that doesn't mean I can't challenge myself like I was in school.

For those of you that are in, or have attended a school for photography, what assignments did the instructor make you do?

Also, what methods and techniques did your instructor(s) apply to help with the creative process, and making you think more?

There is a community college in my area that has what seems like an extensive photography course. I am trying to see if I can work it into my schedule. So maybe in the not so distant future I will be able to attend.

Meanwhile, I would like to challenge myself like I would if I was in a school. I think other POTN members would be interested too?

Thanks.

Thanks!

I never knew that site had a forum :o

Are those assignments the types of assignments actual schools assign to their students? I've seen a bunch of places online that offer weekly challenges, such as competitions that are similar to the link you posted. Now on I am going to start participating at sites like that. Don't know why I havn't thus far. ???

When I look for inspiration, I try to find college websites that actually post their syllabus online with all of their project info.

It's been many years since my 35mm B&W film class in college, so I can't remember a lot of the specifics that you are looking for. But I do remember I had an incredible teacher. I found out years later that his work is in the Smithsonian and the Library of Congress! That DPS site, as well as the competitions section on here, are pretty good for finding ideas.

Can I take your picture? "I'll swallow your soul!" Well, my camera will at least.
