Wondering if anyone have the same issues. Today I shot a bike race with the Flash Zebra battery pack (Yongnuo sf18). It was working great at the beginning. I was shooting with a 1dmarkIII and the 580exII never missed a shot even when underexposing to the ambient light. It was very dark in the morning. Later on, I the 580exII was not firing for every 4 shots. Using or not using high speed sync I was getting the same result. It was odd.

I have been trying to reproduce the issues again at home. I fired couple of hundred shots. At one point, I was switching from high speed sync to the normal sync speed. Somehow, the flash was behaving like I have no external battery at all. It would take some good 3 to 4 seconds to recharge. Then, I turned off the flash and turned back on again. It works it is supposed to now... I still not sure what is the deal. Does the camera going into the battery saving mode would affect how the battery cycles charge time????

Perhaps your shooting cause the 580EXII's thermal self-protection circuit to kick in and force you to slow down.

I think that's it.... I was looking at the shots. It appeared that after firing 20 or 30 shots continuously with some small time gap in between, it started to "slow" down. Cycling time got longer. Or being limited to 4 shots per single burst. After 5 to 7 minutes, it was back to normal again.

Glad we have cleared up that it is not FlashZebra's product that caused the issue.
