I would love a small (even if tiny) thumbnail on the 'Open Recent' list. That would be a rather nice touch.

Whats yours?

Cheers,
Bear Dale

A restore feature.

I can't believe that this is NOT in PS. My Wordperfect had this back on my old 486 in 1993. Every (user definable) minutes it would create a back up of all the open document. In the event of a crash, you would not have lost all your work.

With multi cores and multi threading, there is no excuse for not having an on the fly back up being constantly made, so that if the system freezes you don't have to start at square one all over again.

If PS offered an auto save, I'd most likely switch it off…

I don't want to wait every time a 1Gb file gets "auto saved" at just the wrong moment.
IMO, pressing Cmd+S every once in a while when I go for a coffee works better. ;)

I would agree if we still lived in a single core world, but current quad, hex, and soon oct cores per CPU should be able to perform that kind of work without getting in the way.

I just get SO frustrated an PS folding at the WORST possible times. The sick feeling I get when the workspace whites out, and all I am left with is a dialog box that says:

Description:
A problem caused this program to stop interacting with Windows.

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: AppHangB1
Application Name: Photoshop.exe
Application Version: 10.0.0.0
Application Timestamp: 4601eae8
Hang Signature: a764
Hang Type: 6144
OS Version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.768.3
Locale ID: 1033

Then everything I had been working on is lost. And I don't know about you, but for me, the most often time this happens is the split second that I click "Save As" - I swear, that box is up even before the click button on the mouse returns to the "up" position. The second most often time is when I move the image window in the workspace.

Yea, PS NEEDS an auto-backup feature. With a multi cores and multi threads, there is more than enough "extra" processing power to do it in the background without getting in the way of the work.

A magic wand that works better for tedious stuff like hair. Even on a solid color bg it still has issues defining it correctly. I know.. I know.. don't use the magic wand but it's quick!

It's funny! I use CS3 and don't find myself pining away for a wish list, especially one worth $300! But, of course, most of my work is done in Lightroom, so that's where my feature requests would tend to go:)!

Only if I can keep working during the save. ;)
I think that PSCS5 is different from PSCS4 in that respect: If you have two documents open in PSCS5, I think you can save one "in the background" while working on the other. Not sure, and don't have PSCS5 here, but I'm sure you cannot in PSCS4...

My wishlist would include a good old fashioned paper manual. Or at least a discount certificate to purchase a good one. I hate reading manuals on a screen ... much prefer paper.

Same here, I'm now doing about 95% of my work in LR since I upgraded to 3. I'm starting to think I may have wasted the $260 I spent on CS5.

If your doing photo only... there's no need to buy photoshop. I slice stuff together so its kinda essential.

There are times when I need to do composites so PS is essential. It is definitely geared more towards graphic designers.

If you are using CS5 and making an initial selection with any of the selection tools go to refine edge and you will be amazed at how fine detail it will bring over without any of the previous background in it. I use the quick selection tool and then go to refine edge and look at the selection in mask format (white on black) so that you can see what you are getting. Inside of the refine edge there is even a brush for you to either add or delete parts of the selection. Selections is one of the huge improvements in CS5 and quite honestly it works great for me. I have always found that you need to adapt your way of doing things depending on the type of image you are working on. There are lots of selection tools options available and I have found that it is just a matter of practice to learn which one to use in certain circumstances.

If you are just doing basic exposure, contrast, etc. kind of adjustments you are absolutely correct but if one learns the real power of Photoshop you will so much more out of your images. Selections, adjustment layers, CA-scaling, CA-fill and the list goes on. Anyone that is particular about their images should own Photoshop in my opinion.

I would agree with the auto save requested above. With the technology and the systems we have available to us these days I would think that Adobe should be able to accomplish this in the background somehow. I would apply this to things like actions as well. Just a couple of days ago I had spent a few hours working out a new action and had a freeze up that forced me to boot. When I opened PS again the actions that I had done were gone. You have to physically save your action set which you could then restore in a situation such as what I had. I would like to see them add some way of being able to add comments in an action file other than putting in a stop window with an allow continue. I've quite got the hang of writing my own scripts where I know you can put a comment in.

I use alot of different brushes and their brush management really sucks. In fact many of their preset driven things like layer styles, patterns, shapes, etc. good use a good management system, imo. Right now I use a stand alone program call preset viewer that allows me to at least look at most of the presets without first having to load them in Photoshop.

I'd like to see a way of turning off a path similar to Ctrl-D/Cmd-D for deactivating a selection. Right now I have to go to the paths panel and click away from the action path to deactivate it.

I've already sent a list of some 20 items to Adobe that I would like to see and most of them fall into making things easier for the end user by allowing better management tools as I have described above.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.
