Off camera flash help

Hi all

I know this is going to sound silly but I have a question on mounting my flash off camera for macro work. I have a Canon 40D and a Sigma EF-500DG Super flash. Would any flash sync cord made for Canon cameras work with this flash? And what what you recommend for both a sync cord and a off camera flash bracket. Thanks very much in advance.

Any ETTL compatible flash cord should work OK. The Hakuba LH-1 ballhead bracket (EBAY) works pretty well for macro.
