The Knife Thread

So it seems when I'm out and about i seem to always be without one a simple tool. A knife. Whether it be cutting a strap or modifying something, I can always use a simple sharp blade. The problem is I never have one. I figured ( after using search function ) I was probably not alone here. Can anyone recommend a good simple blade for a camera bag. please share yours or your recommendation.

A simple Swiss Army is my recommendation. Leatherman is an alternative.

I have a leatherman that lives in my camera bag. I rarely need it, but for those times that I do, I *really* need it!

I have a Leatherman Skeletool which I like very much. Handy as heck when I need it.

I keep a Leatherman e303 in my bag all the time.

I keep a S.O.G. Powerlock in my bag. It's similar to a Leatherman.

I carry a Lil'Guppie - Columbia River Knife. Its basically a smaller leatherman type knife.

if you're carrying a knife, you should also consider carrying a first aid kit...

another thought... if you're out and about, and you need a knife, you're not holding that camera properly

Victorinox Swiss Army Cybertool 34. Even includes an Allen wrench that fits the typical A-S anchor bolt. It doesn't live in my camera bag. It lives in my pocket.

Just remember to remove your knife or Leatherman before you head out on an airplane trip ... or you will sadly have to throw it in the trash or collection bin at security!:o

Cardboard box cutter...so if you forget and leave it in your bag, you can remove and deposit the razor blade in the confiscated items bin, and put the empty box cutter back in the bag.

I have a leatherman wave 2 in my bag. I bought it with the optional tool set. I carry a SAK lockblade in my pocket. My Father told me a good sailor always carries a knife. (He was career Navy.)

Try a search for EDC forum. Amazing what people carry. Wonder why Glock doesn't make a multi-tool.
