It's pretty cool. I hear if done right, using this you can get the weight of the 24-70(brick) down from 970G to somewhere around 480G. That's pretty decent if you ask me. I mean, that makes it less like a brick and more like a box of kleenex instead. That's got to be worth $20 right?

If you like it, say so and why. If you don't, say so and why. Just don't expect to change anyone else's mind by arguing with them. You will notice that with all the bickering chopped out the thread got a whole lot shorter.

I like it and have wanted to do it for a while. I like it, I think it looks cool. Some people put alpine stars or other stickers on their hoods, each person should do what they want with their hood. I've been wanting to do this to mine for a while actually. There's nothing wrong with the stock look either. Both look good to me. And the comment about adding weight..really? The lens is heavy already, I doubt this wrap adds enough weight to where you wouldn't want to use it. I want to do this to my 70-200 2.8L
I think this style appeals to sport photogs, maybe auto guys more than other photographers who knows. Anyway I like it :)

i wouldn't mind it. It looks differently (while not looking ugly) and if you shoot with a bunch of canon people at the same place its any easy way to distunguish who is whose (without putting ugly neon tape all over your camera and lenses)

I wish my lenses would quit using protection so they'd multiply.

Yeah, I like being able to take something and really make it your own. Looks clean, I would also like to see a DIY post.

I think it's no different from taking a smart phone and putting a case on it, adding new wall papers, changing up the UI.

It's okay to not like something that someone else has done, but there is no need for punitive remarks.

You guys may scoff, but I'd expect significant increases in both the lens's responsiveness and forgiveness.

See this article (external link) for a similar technique.

I'm off to Target to see what sort of adhesive shelving paper they have in stock.

Replacing my Canon 7D, Tokina 12-24mm, Canon 17-55mm, Sigma 30mm f/1.4, 85mm f/1.4, and 150-500mm with a Panasonic Lumix FZ1000. I still have the 17-55 and the 30 available for sale.

That's a good idea. Time to stop using filters...

I hope you aren't being serious. That's obviously impossible. I read the cycling article, and I don't quite follow how wrapping the frame could lower the overall weight by 100-200 grams off your average 4-6 lb. frame.

I think its for photographers who have more time than work.

HA HA!!! I was kinda thinking the same.

I have seen this and a few other cosmetic things done to cameras... But like the camera body bling and painting the bodies custom colors I think this too is really pretty silly. I certainly wouldnt waste my time or money on stuff like this. But, to each their own.
